Designing the 1st SPEED Implementation Competition: Towards Continuation & Longevity

In 2013-14 I served as the Educational Content Designer for SPEED, the Student Platform for Engineering Education Development. I generated the content and then delivered the program below at the Internationl flagship event, the Global Student Forum, in Cartagena, Colombia, and then at the Indian Student Forum in Hubli, India. I designed slidedecks and activities for the students to learn design thinking in order to affect change in their educational communities back home. Over the three days they created Action Plans through ideation and user-centered research, created prototypes of their ideas, critiqued peer group projects, and presented before a panel of judges.

Thereafter, I designed the first-ever online Implementation Competition to encourage continuation and execution of the projects. I created monthly milestones for student teams to be on track to a competitive entry 6 months after the Forum, and executed the mentoring and judging of teams from Boston, MA, USA while teams worked away in their home bases of Colombia, India, Israel, and more. I also created a website for the students to navigate the competition and keep on track.
